A Visit to Makoko: A Journey of Empathy and Action

— Recognizing the dire conditions of Makoko, often referred to as a floating
slum, our team visited the community to assess their living conditions and
understand their most pressing needs.

— Observed and documented the harsh realities of life on water, including the use
of the same water for cooking, bathing, and sanitation.

— Provided immediate relief by distributing food items, mosquito nets, and
sanitary pads to mitigate health risks.

— Collaborated with the community leader to ensure equitable distribution of
resources and maintain order, given the challenging terrain.

— Strengthened our resolve to implement long-term interventions aimed at
improving living conditions.

Floor Victims Support

In response to the devastating floods that displaced countless families
in Borno State, Vicky Care Foundation took proactive steps to aid
affected victims.

— Visited the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and other affected
areas to offer assistance.

— Provided essential relief materials to displaced individuals and families.

— Advocated for increased support from well-meaning Nigerians and
organizations to help victims recover and rebuild their lives.

— Reinforced our commitment to responding swiftly to humanitarian crises.

Promoting Menstrual Hygiene and Education

— Understanding the challenges faced by young girls regarding menstrual hygiene,
our foundation has been actively involved in distributing sanitary pads and
raising awareness in schools.

— Conducted outreach programs at Community Secondary School, Nwofe,
Ebonyi State, Stella Maris Secondary School, Ebonyi State in 2021, Crowder
memorial college Lokoja, Kogi state and Al-Ansaar secondary school Lokoja,
Kogi state. 2021.

— Distributed sanitary pads to young girls to promote menstrual hygiene and
prevent school absenteeism.

— Educated students on personal hygiene and reproductive health.

— Encouraged open discussions to break the stigma surrounding menstruation.

Future Goals

1. Launch a long-term Makoko Community Development Project to improve access
to clean water, sanitation, and healthcare.

2. Establish educational sponsorship programs for children in underserved
communities.

3. Expand our health outreach programs to provide free medical care and health
education.

4. Strengthen collaborations with government agencies and corporate organizations to
amplify our impact.

5. Introduce vocational training programs to equip individuals with skills that
enhance
self-reliance and economic opportunities.
